CAPTURE BEYOND
LEWIS & HARRIS

Mark and Anthony strongly believe  in the importance of project photography and building a coherent portfolio of work.

We will encourage repeat visits to locations at different times of day to help you build a strong body of work you can be proud of.

Although primarily an ICM and Long Exposure based retreat, the locations we visit have so much potential for exploring a variety of abstract techniques. We will look at multiple exposures, intimate scenes, colour, shape and texture.

WORKSHOP
OVERVIEW

Day 1 (22nd Feb)

Flight / ferry to Stornaway, arriving before 15.00 on the 23rd February. This will then allow you the time to settle into your room before we head out for the first sunset shoot. We will travel to a section of coastline close to the castle, to allow you to familiarise yourself with the local environment.

Day 2 (23rd Feb)

We will rise early to catch the early light. The morning will be spent exploring two beaches, Luskentyre and Seilbost. After an on-the-go lunch, we will explore some off the beaten track locations which offer a different perspective of Harris. We then head back to the hotel for a rest and some dinner. Itinerary may change due to weather conditions.

Day 3 (24th Feb)

Another early start! Today we will make the trip to a less well known beach called Scariest, however you won't be disappointed, it's a stunning location. We will be doing a lot of walking today as we will explore all angles and locations on this beach before heading over to a classic location called the Harris Salt Flats.

Day 4 (25th Feb)

Today will be a mix of morning local photography and an edit masterclass in the afternoon, where Mark and Anthony will take you through an in depth look at editing styles, processing, sharpening techniques and more. We will also have the chance to see some of the photographs you have captured during the trip.

Day 5 (26th Feb)

Starting the day at Big Bay, we will explore the vast sandy bay that offers perfect opportunities for minimalist photography, with grand stretching vistas.

Day 6 (27th Feb)

The last full day will be flexible, and we will decide as a group which locations (based on Anthony and Marks recommendations) to explore! You will have the chance to either travel North to capture some sand patterns and rock formations, or we can further explore previous beaches and vistas.

Departure (28th Feb) - For those that are interested, we will have the opportunity to capture one last sunrise prior to departure. Depart Stornoway after 12.00pm
