My latest photowalk took me to the Saatchi Gallery, located in Sloane Square. This was my first visit to the gallery and turned out to be an interesting stop off with the potential for return visits to build a small project around.
"The Saatchi Gallery aims to provide an innovative forum for contemporary art, presenting work by largely unseen young artists or by international artists whose work has been rarely or never exhibited in the UK"
I found photographing people interacting with the exhibits to be quite fascinating.
"Many artists showing at The Saatchi Gallery are unknown when first exhibited, not only to the general public but also to the commercial art world. Many of these artists are subsequently offered shows by galleries and museums internationally. In this effect, the gallery also operates as a springboard for young artists to launch their careers."
The architecure, patterns and symetry of the building also make for some appealing images.
"In the last five years, the Saatchi Gallery presented 15 of the 20 most visited exhibits in London."
"Free admission to all shows - including temporary, curated exhibitions, is part of the Saatchi Gallery's aim to bring contemporary art to the widest audience possible."
